The Trentham dojo, the newest addition to the Nippon Den Kempo Junseikan International.

The Trentham dojo of traditional Goju Ryu karate originating from Okinawa, an island south of Japan, has had an eventful end to its 3rd year of training in 2017. Many of the students who joined the karate club from the beginning, back in 2015, have continued to train hard demonstrating excellent growth in strength, sharpness and technique. In September 2017, their dedication and resilience had seen them being awarded their grading certificate, but not without an amazing effort demonstrating all aspects of their training to the examining senior black-belts. Whether it was by the many hundreds of push-ups and squats, the focused execution of basic and advanced self defence techniques or by the continuous  kumite (sparring) with peers to the point of exhaustion, every member had performed to their finest; especially the mums!
November of 2017 was an eventful month with two exciting occasions. The first had the group practising hard to learn key Japanese phrases and terms and complex techniques in preparation for the visit from Yuki Sato sensei coming all the way from Osaka, Japan. He had visited the Trentham dojo to deliver a special training session, sharing his expert knowledge in the art of Goju Ryu karate. His demonstration of effective self-defence technique and explanation of key training elements had all members enthralled and intrigued, and feeling very honoured to have him visit our town.
The second occasion had the members represent the Trentham dojo in the annual Junseikan State Championship. They participated to the best of their ability in events of kumite (sparring) and kata (self-defence demonstration), with many 1st, 2nd and 3rd places won and well deserved. Congratulations to all members for your hard work and commitment.
