The Trentham dojo had their grading last Tuesday under the observation of Shane Harrison Sensei and Joe Aprile Sensei. The members worked hard, pushed through a few hundred push ups and squats to demonstrate the kihon to the best of their ability. The colour belts then continued with more advanced techniques and took on the challenge of demonstrating flow and sharpness of different combinations of kihon. The members were then surprised with requiring to demonstrate their knowledge of Yon Nen Po, or more commonly known as “Franks”, and discovered with less surprise that it’s an area of training that needs more work.
Kata demonstration challenged them with Gekisai Dai Ichi, Gekisai Dai Ni and Saifa in multiple directions around the hall, which they took on with confidence, but it wasn’t until Umpo when the mistakes began to appear!
Finishing off with kumite the Trentham members found their fire, despite their legs feeling like jelly. All the kids were trying their best with great technique and good flowing movement, but it was all the Mums at the end trying their hardest and showing great endurance that was the highlight!
Well done and congratulations to all Trentham members for an excellent grading.
