Dojo Information:

East Doncaster is a suburb of Melbourne – Victoria – Australia located 22 Kmts North East of Melbourne CBD.  The local Government that administers and services the population is the City of Manningham, former (City of Doncaster and Templestowe).  East Doncaster has a country feel and has retained many open spaces, parks and other recreational reserves. East Doncaster where our Dojo is located was originally occupied by the WURUNDJERI, indigenous Australians of the KULIN Nation.  Yes, you have seen that name before, If you ever traveled by car around the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne CBD you would have seen the name of the street leading to the Etihad car parks, it is called Wurundjeri. The area was populated by Europeans in 1860’s, the early settlers established fruit orchards in the area and in fact up to early 1980’s, many areas within 100 metres from the Dojo were still fruit orchards. The names of the streets in the early years were influenced by some of the European settlers in 1860’s, for example, two busy roads in our area including George St which was then known as German Lane and Victoria St was then known as Bismarck St,  It was in the First World War that the name of the streets changed to today’s names Although the bulk of the homes in the area were built in the 1970’s and 1980’s, it is common for homes to be sold, quickly demolished and the block of land used for medium density residential apartments/units. We do not have train or tram services in the area, the main form of transport to and from the Dojo is either by buses or cars.  Buses that take people pass the Dojo includes: buses 305, 901,961, 906 and 318
