I first began karate training at the age of five at the Werribee dojo of Yuishinkan under John Ingham sensei back in 1987. I had trained throughout primary and most of secondary school, achieving 1st Dan at the age of 14 years.  During my final years of high school and university I had participated in training less, and for a time it seemed that the busyness of life had taken over, as it sometimes does. Though some time later, I had reconnected with my old sensei, Shihan John Ingham, and returned to training under Shihan Glen van Boven at the Tarneit dojo.  After many more years of hard training and developing my understanding of Goju Ryu karate through assisting in the instruction of the dojo students, I was granted the privilege of establishing the Trentham Dojo. Thus a new chapter of my karate journey had begun.

Goju Ryu karate has been a big part of my life for so long, it’s hard to imagine life without karate practice, particularly that of the tradition of Tomoharu Kisaki  and shihan John Ingham’s instruction of Goju Ryu karate. These days I find inspiration in seeing the members of the Trentham dojo grow and develop their karate. I greatly enjoy their enthusiasm and commitment and that of all other club members at Junseikan. Karate contributes much to health both physically and mentally, and has brought wonderful people together who seek the same from practising the art of Goju Ryu karate at the Nippon Den Kempo Junseikan International.
